Basic Foraging: An Introduction to Wild Edibles

Discover the edible wonders growing all around you in this hands-on introduction to foraging. This beginner-friendly course teaches you how to safely identify, harvest, and enjoy common wild plants while respecting nature and staying sustainable.

We’ll cover essential skills including:

  • Recognizing a handful of easy-to-identify edible plants and their look-alikes

  • Understanding ethical and legal foraging practices

  • Learning basic preparation and tasting some simple wild foods

  • Seasonal highlights: what to look for in spring, summer, and fall

Participants will spend time outdoors exploring fields, woods, and edges with a knowledgeable guide, gaining confidence to start their own foraging journeys. No prior experience needed — just a curiosity about the natural world and a willingness to get your hands a little dirty!

All ages welcome; children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring water, a notebook, and a basket or bag for gathering.

This course repeats on First Saturdays of the month!!!
