OARS HAS FUNDED AN EXTREME MOTUS ALL-TERRAIN WHEELCHAIR!

More access. More adventures. More opportunities to experience the outdoors — for everyone.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the Outdoor Arts & Recreation Society (OARS) has successfully raised the funds needed to purchase an Extreme Motus all-terrain wheelchair!

This is a milestone worth celebrating, not just for OARS, but for our entire community. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, supporters, volunteers, local organizations, and everyone who attended an event, shared our campaign, or contributed to making this vision a reality, we are one enormous step closer to making outdoor recreation accessible to more people.

For individuals with mobility limitations, uneven terrain, gravel paths, fields, and natural landscapes can present barriers that make enjoying the outdoors difficult or impossible. An all-terrain wheelchair changes that.

Our Extreme Motus will be available FREE OF CHARGE to visitors at our 50-acre site in Cuba, NY. Whether someone wants to explore the property, enjoy a family outing, participate in an outdoor educational program, or simply spend time immersed in nature, we want them to have that opportunity.

While OARS continues working toward the development of universally accessible, ADA-aligned trails and outdoor facilities, this wheelchair provides an immediate, practical solution. Accessibility should not have to wait until every infrastructure project is complete. To everyone who helped us reach this goal: THANK YOU! You helped turn an idea into an opportunity that will serve visitors for years to come.

But we're not finished yet!

Our next step is to construct a permanent, accessible storage shelter to protect the wheelchair, keep it secure, and ensure it is readily available for public use. We are looking for volunteers, builders, tradespeople, contractors, and community members who would like to help us bring this next phase to life.
