Foraging 101 is an educational course offered periodically throughout the year that teaches individuals how to safely identify and harvest edible wild plants and fungi in their local environment, focusing on proper identification techniques, seasonal availability, sustainable harvesting practices, and preparing and cooking the foraged items; it aims to foster a deeper connection with nature while acquiring knowledge about the diverse edible and medicinal species found in our area.

Foraging 101 courses are held interminttently throughout the year as each season brings new wild crops and herbs on its own schedule. This course is meant for beginners and novices and meant to familiarize new foragers with local wild crops. We will also discuss responsible foraging, laws surrounding harvesting on different property types. You will also be introduced to basic food preservation techniques based on your harvest!
This is a course that is held both inside and outdoors. Dress for the weather and be prepared for a little bit of a hike. Tools will be provided. Bring a basket or a cloth bag or two!
