Call for Emerging Artists (Ages 18–25)

The Outdoor Arts & Recreation Society (OARS) invites student and emerging artists ages 18–25 who are current residents of or enrolled in colleges or universities located in Allegany or Cattaraugus County, NY to apply for our upcoming Outdoor Juried Exhibition in Cuba, NY.

This event theme is “Art in Nature: Echoes of the Landscape” and offers a unique opportunity to design and display original, nature-inspired sculptures in outdoor public spaces. Selected artists will receive a stipend to support installation and will be featured in a public reception and community arts celebration.

Eligibility:

  • Ages 18–25

  • Must be a student or current resident of Allegany or Cattaraugus County, NY

Important Dates:

  • Submission Deadline: October 10, 2025

  • Installation Period: October 13–17, 2025

  • Public Reception & Judging: October 25, 2025

Waiver and Release

I, the undersigned participant, acknowledge and agree to the following:

  1. Assumption of Risk: I understand that participation in the Outdoor Sculpture Competition involves physical labor, the use of tools and equipment, and the potential for injury, property damage, or unforeseen accidents. I assume full responsibility for all risks associated with transporting, assembling, and exhibiting my sculpture on-site.

  2. Release of Liability: I release and hold harmless [Organization Name], its directors, staff, volunteers, affiliates, and property owners from any and all claims, liabilities, or demands arising from injury, loss, or damage to myself, my team, my property, or my artwork, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.

  3. Insurance: I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to obtain insurance coverage for my artwork, tools, and any personal belongings. [Organization Name] does not provide insurance for artist property.

  4. Safety Compliance: I agree to comply with all safety guidelines and instructions provided by event organizers and will ensure my sculpture meets stability and public safety requirements.

  5. Photography & Use: I grant permission for my sculpture and likeness (if photographed during the event) to be used for non-commercial documentation and promotion of the event, including print, web, and social media.

  6. Exhibit Duration and Removal: I agree not to remove my sculpture before the end of the exhibition without prior written consent. I understand that it is my responsibility to retrieve my work during the scheduled deinstallation period.
