We’re getting our hands muddy and building something that will last for generations!
Join us for a week-long community cob oven build at OARS. Because natural building is a process — not a one-day project — we’ll spend the week working step-by-step to create one (maybe two!) beautiful wood-fired cob ovens from the ground up.
Throughout the week, volunteers will help:
🧱 Set the foundation and stone base
🪵 Build the oven “table” structure
🔥 Set fire bricks for the cooking floor
🌾 Mix cob (clay, sand, straw, water) the old-fashioned way
🏗 Shape and sculpt the oven dome
Come for a day or commit to the full week. No experience needed — just a willingness to learn, collaborate, and get a little muddy.
This is community building in the most literal sense. We’ll laugh, learn traditional skills, and create a gathering space that will fuel future classes, events, and shared meals at OARS.
Let’s build something warm together. 🔥🌿
